WCHS’s Special Education Department is dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs so they can succeed in high school and beyond. Each student who qualifies for special education services has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This IEP is consistently reviewed with input from the student, family, and staff, and it helps ensure that students receive the right supports, accommodations, and learning opportunities tailored to their goals.

Students may work toward a high school diploma with accommodations, or, if determined appropriate by the case conference committee, a Certificate of Completion. Both paths focus on building academic skills, independence, and preparation for life after graduation. Programs such as STARR (Students Training for Adult Roles and Responsibilities) and ENRICH (Engaging in Relevant Instruction for Community and Home) provide hands-on experiences that help students grow academically, socially, and personally.

Our goal is to empower every student to reach their potential while preparing for future success in college, careers, and community life.
