WCHS Mathematics Department Updates
Mathematics at WCHS is off to a great start. For 2025-26 we are welcoming three new teachers to our team:
- Miss Cheyenne Clouse who is teaching Algebra I and Geometry
- Mrs. Samantha Miner who is teaching Geometry and Algebra II CP
- Mrs. Somreeta Roy who is teaching Algebra I and Analytical Algebra II
The Mathematics department strives to help all students reach their potential while becoming mathematically literate in the process. Courses in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus & Trigonometry all prepare students for success on exams such as the PSAT, SAT, ASVAB, etc.
Our upper level courses offer students the opportunity to earn dual credit through Indiana University South Bend or Purdue University Fort Wayne. These courses are Finite Math, Quantitative Reasoning, AP Calculus AB (Calculus I), AP Calculus BC (Calculus II), and AP Statistics.
Classroom Activities
As a capstone project to a series of lessons on graphing and writing equations of lines, students in taking Honors Geometry (Mrs. Wright and Mr. Wiebe) learned how to use the DESMOS graphing calculator app and create pictures made up of line segments. Students had to write and enter equations into the graphing app in order to create the images.
