This is the process of two students painting a mural on the back wall of my classroom this summer. Juniors, Elizabeth Brown and Kendra Housel, came up with the idea, planned out the process, and spent several hours this summer on this free hand mural of the covers of many Broadway Playbills.  It makes me smile every day!

Warsaw Community Schools

Band and Orchestra sign-up

Warsaw Community Schools Music Department is scheduling instrument fittings for 2014/2015 sixth grade band and orchestra. The instrument fittings will be held at Edgewood Middle School in the Edgewood Band Room Tuesday, May 20th between 4:30-7:10.

Please contact Lori Owens in the Warsaw High School Performing Arts Center Office at 574-371-5037 to schedule an appointment. Walk-Ins welcome and students need to be accompanied by a parent to the fitting.

Directors Joseph Peloza, Tammy Sprunger, Mickey Ratliff, Emily Mikel, and Carolyn Stalcup will be available to help students with their instrument choices and answer questions. A Quinlan and Fabish Music Store representative will also be available to assist parents with instrument rental or purchase arrangements.

This Thursday, May 8th, the WCHS Jazz Band and WCHS Percussion Ensemble will present "Jazz in the Night/ Drum Enchanted Evening" at 7:30 in the PAC. The Jazz Band will play a cool mix of jazz, rock, and popular songs. The Percussion Ensemble will perform their state finalist program "Molecular Dance City". The concert will also feature performances with special guest artists Frank Oddis and 5-time Emmy winner Jay Flippin. Tickets are $5 and will be on sale in the ticket booth all week up to the start of the concert Thursday night. Don't miss it!

Congratulations to the WCHS Wind Ensemble. The band received a Gold rating at State Qualifications contest on Saturday. The band earned a Gold rating for their stage performance of three prepared pieces as well as a Gold in sight-reading! Great job, everyone!
