Showcase Concert
April 21, 2015

The Warsaw Community High School Band Department will present its annual "Showcase Concert" on Tuesday, April 21st, at 7:30pm in the WCHS Performing Arts Center. The WCHS Concert Band and WCHS Wind Ensemble will each perform a program that they've prepared for Indiana State School Music Association competitions in the coming weeks. Admission to the Showcase Concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.

The WCHS Concert Band, under the direction of Emily Mikel, will perform "Urban Dances" by Erik Morales, "Loch Lomond" - a setting of "Loch Lomond" and "Danny Boy" by Frank Ticheli - and "Tricycle", by Andrew Boysen Jr. The Wind Ensemble will perform "Gandalf" from the "Symphony No. 1 - Lord of the Rings" by Johann de Meij, "A Movement for Rosa" by Mark Camphouse - a piece honoring Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement - and "Ride" by Samuel Hazo. The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Mickey Ratliff.

The Concert Band will compete at ISSMA Organizational Contest at Elkhart Memorial High School on Saturday, April 25th. The Wind Ensemble will participate in ISSMA State Qualifications at Chesterton High School on May 2nd. If qualified, the Wind Ensemble will advance to ISSMA State Finals on May 9th. Congratulations to the WCHS Winter Percussion Ensemble! They won their class on Saturday at their very own “Warsaw Winter Percussion Invitational”, held here in the Tiger Den and hosted by the Band Department. 23 high school drumlines and percussion groups from Indiana and Illinois competed in 6 different classifications. Warsaw came in 1st place in the Concert Open class with a score of 84.3. This was Warsaw’s second 1st place finish this season, having won their class at Carroll on February 21st. This Saturday, the Percussion Ensemble competes in State Semi-finals, with a chance to qualify for State Finals for the 19th consecutive year. Congrats, and good luck everybody!

Saturday, February 28, at ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Indianapolis, Analiese Helms, a junior at WCHS, performed a Violin Solo and received a GOLD rating. Analiese also performed a VIOLA Solo and received a GOLD rating.

The WCHS Orchestra would like to say how proud we are of Analiese!! Congratulations, Analiese!!

The Warsaw Community High School Instrumental Music Department will host the ninth annual Warsaw Winter Percussion Invitational in the WCHS Tiger Den on Saturday, March 7th. Twenty-four high school drum lines and percussion ensembles from across Indiana and Illinois will compete in seven different classifications beginning at 2:00pm. The competition will conclude with an awards ceremony at 7:15pm.

The WCHS Winter Percussion Ensemble will perform at 6:15. Warsaw has qualified for Indiana Percussion State Finals eighteen years in a row and is five-time State Champions.

Admission is $6 for Adults, $5 for senior citizens and college students (with student ID), $3 for students K-12, children 6 and under are free. Spectators will be directed to park in the Performing Arts Center parking lot (Lot C) and enter through the main PAC entrance. All proceeds go to the Warsaw Band Boosters. Congratulations to the Warsaw Marching Tigers’ Pride on their 4th place finish at State Finals this past

weekend! The band performed in the ISSMA Scholastic State Finals competition at Lawrence Central High School on Saturday. Warsaw placed 4th out of 20 bands in the Large Scholastic Class! Congratulations to

everyone on an outstanding season!
