I am a graduate of Jay County High School located in Portland, IN where I was born. While attending JCHS, I participated in basketball, football, ALL forms of band, choir, theatre, student government, and National Honor Society. I was also a 10 year 4-H member (swine) and a competitive Lily Scholar Finalist. I sat under inspirational music educators and knew from my freshman year going forward that I would one day be a music educator. I have most recently graduated from Anderson University where I received my Bachelors of Music in Music Education. My degree and state license qualify me to teach instrumental, vocal and general music - Pre-K-12. While at Anderson, I participated in a number of ensembles including the AU Wind Ensemble, AU Chorale, AU Men's Choir, AU Jazz Ensemble, AU Trumpet Ensemble, AU Community Concert Band, and Lyric Theatre Workshop. I also had the privilege of singing in three operas and a musical while attending Anderson University. One of the most important things I bring to the table is a combination of experience and perspective. Over the course of my time at AU, I attended numerous professional development conferences and worked on a team with the Conn-Selmer Institute as a branch of their education division. I have served as a brass instructor for Muncie Southside and Anderson High School. In addition to completing my student teaching in a band/choir placement at Westfield High School, I served them as an interim general music educator while a colleague was on leave. Through each of these experiences, I was fortunate to maintain a small studio giving private trumpet and voice lessons. These experiences taught me much more than I could learn from my professors in a classroom and offered me the opportunity to work alongside both seasoned veterans and younger up-and-coming directors in music education. Lastly, I am here to serve. I am here to empower students to become independent, life-long musicians and productive, proactive members of society within the framework of a safe learning environment. I am here to inspire students to dream, pursue, and achieve. I am an ally in every student's educational endeavors and a partner to parents in molding and shaping the lives of young adults. I would consider myself very approachable; please feel free to reach out to me as the school year wears on if I can assist you as a parent or student in anyway. Please consider checking out/contributing to the Warsaw Band Program!
