Every year, the top high school and middle level youth volunteers in each state and the District of Columbia are selected as State Honorees. Each receives a $1,000 award, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for several days of national recognition events. In addition, two to 10 runners-up in each state are named Distinguished Finalists and receive a bronze medallion.
The time is upon us once again to take part in our only school-wide PTO fundraising opportunity! It’s the fastest and easiest way to fund raise and put money back into our classrooms. Our goal is simple. We would like to raise at least $6,000.0 from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM this Saturday, here at WCHS/WACC. The fundraiser is organized by our outstanding PTO and is run through our local Rice Ford Dealership. This is a national event which is promoted by the Ford Motor Company for schools across the US.
All you have to do is come in and test drive a new Ford vehicle and $20 goes immediately to our school. That’s it! It’s short, sweet, and no strings attached. If you own multiple residences or have children that you are supporting in college or elsewhere, you may drive multiple times and use that secondary address. Quick and easy…..funds that come directly back to our classrooms.
This message is for Juniors and Seniors. We have had an exciting opportunity presented to us by the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce and the fine folks from WorkOne. They will be teaming with WCHS and WACC to host the first annual Jr./Sr. Career Expo.
The Career Expo will have over 35 companies and numerous colleges and universities present from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM in the Tiger Den. You will the opportunity to visit during the lunch hour and possibly with your 6th and 7th period classes. The Expo will also be open until 4:00 PM to provide you with an opportunity to visit after school if needed.
Many companies will be looking for workers who can begin jobs with competitive wages as soon as this summer. While others will be here to simply promote what their company does and the type of skills and training needed to be considered for the workplace.
The colleges range from Ivy Tech to Notre Dame. Admissions counselors will be on hand to assist you with any questions you may have.
I thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the Career Expo next Friday May 9th.
