The Warsaw Community High School Dance Performance I, II, and Select Dance Ensemble classes will be presenting their 2016 Spring Dance Concert, Velocity, on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 7:00pm; the recital will showcase these performers in a variety of styles including jazz, hip hop, musical theater, and contemporary dance. Original works choreographed by the Select Ensemble class will also be presented.

Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under, general admission seating. Tickets may be purchased in advance. Donations will also be accepted after the performance if you wish to contribute to our continually growing program. All proceeds go directly into the dance program. Come join us for an entertaining evening of dance in celebration of a successful school year, and help us say goodbye to our Ensemble seniors!

Warsaw Community High School announces the 2016 Fine Arts Festival from 6pm to 9pm Thursday, May 12th. This amazing celebration of the visual and performing arts in Warsaw will be held in The Performing Arts Center at Warsaw Community High School.

The 37th annual Tri Kappa Art Exhibit in the Black Box Theater will be open to the public from 6:00-9:00. The Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa has provided financial support for this event for 37 years. Students will display visual art works created during this school year and senior studio artists will showcase their work from the past four years. Three local artists jury the show and monetary awards will be given to winners in 12 categories as well as a Best of Show and Runner-up Best of show.

Activities for the evening include:

• WCHS Dance classes performing several exciting numbers

• Student produced Video Showcase on the big screen in the auditorium

• WCHS Jazz Band

• WCS Strings ensemble

• Tri Kappa Juried Art Exhibit-sponsored by The Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa

• Potter’s wheel, stone carving and painting demonstrations

• Individual musical performances on the small stage in the lobby

• Cultural art and craft displays from the World Languages Department

• Creative Writing from the English Department

• Christi Ziebarth Exhibit in the gallery on the curve

• Culinary Arts students will serve their inventive appetizers and desserts sponsored by the Active Chapter of Tri-Kappa,.

The public is invited-- Please join the WCHS performing and visual arts teachers and their talented students for this evening of fun and celebration of the arts. All events are free and open to the public.
The WCHS Choral Department will present their annual Choral Extravaganza on Wednesday, May 11 at 8pm in the WCHS Performing Arts Center.

The concert will feature all four high school choirs, as they perform A Broadway Celebration. The evening will consist of music found on the Broadway stage from the late 1920’s to the present. The choirs will celebrate music found in shows such as Matilda the Musical, Les Miserable, The Little Mermaid, Shrek the Musical, Show Boat, and many more!  No admission will be charged. Free will donations for the program will be accepted.

The Warsaw middle school bands will present their spring concert “See You at
the Movies” at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center.

The concert will include favorites such as “Mission Impossible”, selections
from “Harry Potter,” “Circle of Life” and “Highlights from The Hunger Games.”

The Combined Edgewood/ Lakeview Middle School jazz band will be
performing as well as the sixth grade band. Band awards will be presented.

The middle school bands are under the direction of Joseph Peloza. Enjoy a
night of movie music and help celebrate the accomplishments of these great
student musicians.

The concert is free of charge and the public is invited to attend.
The Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Department will present "Jazz in the Night/ Drum Enchanted Evening" on Thursday, May 5th at 7:30pm. The concert will feature the WCHS Jazz Band, the WCHS Percussion Ensemble, and the combined Edgewood/ Lakeview Middle School Jazz Band. The groups will also perform with special guest artist, David Ridenour on guitar.

The WCHS Jazz Band will perform a wide variety of musical styles, including classic jazz standards by Herbie Hancock and Dave Brubeck, as well as the music of contemporary artists like Norah Jones, Stevie Wonder, and recent Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Chicago.

The WCHS Jazz Band performs extensively and has received numerous accolades and honors over the years, including performances at the prestigious Elkhart Jazz Festival in 2012, 2014, and 2015. The band has also been invited to return to the festival for a fourth time in June of 2016.

The WCHS Percussion Ensemble will perform pieces ranging from Classical to the Latin-jazz of the Pat Metheny Group. The Warsaw Winter Percussion Ensemble will perform its 2016 competition show, “Passion, Grace, and Fire”, based on the music of jazz-fusion guitarist Al Di Meola.

The WCHS Percussion Ensemble placed seventh at the Indiana Percussion Association State Finals in 2016. Warsaw is a five-time Indiana State Champion and has qualified for state finals twenty years in a row. The WCHS Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble are under the direction of Mickey Ratliff. The Middle School Jazz Band is directed by Joseph Peloza.

Performing with the WCHS Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble will be special guest artist, jazz guitarist David Ridenour.

Mr. Ridenour is a guitarist/vocalist/composer from Cincinnati, Ohio. As a performer, he has appeared on stage with such artists as Maynard Ferguson, Ray Charles, Joan Baez, The Temptations, Chuck Berry, Lee Greenwood, Johnny Rivers, Percy Sledge, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Helen Reddy, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the Cincinnati Pops, the Louisville Pops, and the Lexington Philharmonic. Ridenour’s original compositions have appeared on television programs such as "Will and Grace”, "Passions", and "Providence", and on recordings by the jazz quintet Crackpot Theory. Ridenour earned a BM in Jazz Guitar Performance from Morehead State University (KY) and currently teaches and performs regularly in the Cincinnati area.

“Jazz in the Night/ Drum Enchanted Evening” will take place Thursday, May 5th at 7:30 in the Warsaw Performing Arts Center. Admission is $5. Tickets are available in the WCHS Performing Arts Center ticket booth. TG’s Frozen Yogurt of Warsaw will sell yogurt in the lobby from 6:45 to 7:30 and again at intermission.
