WARSAW - Warsaw Tiger distance standout Owen Glogovsky will cross his next cross country finish line in Nashville Tennessee as a member of the Lipscomb University cross country program, signing a letter of Intent to run both Cross Country and Track for the Bisons.
Glogovsky has set the pace for the Tigers all four years of his high school cross country career, leading coach Jim Mills' squad to the state finals twice as a team (freshman and sophomore year) and the speedy senior qualified as an individual this past season. Glogovsky's efforts carried the Tigers to a final four finish in 2012, and a 12th-place finish in 2013.
A steady force for coach Matt Thacker's program, Glogovsky still has a few turns to take on the track yet this upcoming season, where he has led Warsaw to three conference championships, three sectional titles, and two regional titles. As a junior, Glogovsky was a state qualifier and sectional champ in the 1600, and he captured the conference title in both the 1600 and the 3200.
While the steady senior has mastered left turns in the spring as well as the terrain of the cross country courses in the fall, the senior has demonstrated a year-round mastery of the tricky curves in the classroom. Enrolled in multiple advanced, honors, and dual-credit course offerings, Glogovsky has amassed an impressive 13.0 Grade-Point Average (on 12-point scale) and ranks fifth in his class of 477 students. These efforts have landed him honorable mention and Academic All-State accolades in both Cross Country and Track.
As if training and studying for class did not keep Glogovsky busy enough, the National Honor Society president was also a member of the Chinese Club, Philosophy Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also volunteered at Kosciusko Community Hospital, the Elementary Mile, Blue Moon Distance Camp, Love in a Sweater Program, Feed My Starving Children, the Fall Festival planning, and assisted with the Optimist Club Triathlon.
Glogovskywill run for coach bill Taylor and the Bisons, Division-I members of the NCAA and members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Front row (L-R): Jan Glogovsky, Owen Glogovsky, Terry Glogovsky; Back Row: Dave Anson (WCHS Athletic Director), Jim Mills (WCHS Cross Country Coach).
