On Saturday, October 17, 2015, Congressman Stutzman’s Academy Committee will be conducting a presentation that may be of interest to some of your most ambitious students for entry into the U.S. Service Academies for the graduating class of 2019 (high school class 2015 or later). Scholarships to a Military Academy are valued as a $330,000 scholarship for a student.

Any students interested in learning about the process and the requirements necessary to apply for nominations to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marines, West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy and Coast Guard are welcome to attend an Academy Day that will be held at the Fort Wayne Air National Guard Base at 10:00 a.m. on October 17, 2015. The program will feature a brief film on academy life and presentations from representatives from the academies followed by a question and answer period. Parents of interested students, teachers and guidance counselors are encouraged to attend as well. Attendees may enter the base via the security entrance just east of the airport beginning at 10:00 a.m. To expedite security at the gate all persons attending must RSVP to our office no later than October 15th.

Candidates for admission to the service academies must be U.S. citizens, have secured a nomination from a nominating authority (except Coast Guard), be unmarried and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents. In addition, applicants must be at least 17 years of age but not past their 23rd birthday on July 1 of the year of admission. In applying for a nomination from Congressman Stutzman, candidates must be residents of the Indiana 3rd Congressional District, submit an application packet including a completed application form with a recent photo, three letters of recommendation, SAT or ACT scores, an official copy of their high school transcript and an essay.

Our nomination packets are due November 1, 2015. I have attached an application to this packet should you have any interested students.

If you have any questions or need additional information, including copies of the attached flyer, please contact me at the Congressman’s District Office at 1300 S. Harrison St. Room 3105, Fort Wayne, IN. 46802 (260) 424-3041 or via email at kathie.green@mail.house.gov.

Our district is one of the most competitive districts in the country for academy nominations and Academy Day helps to give direction to students who hope to gain a nomination from our office. Please help us get the word out to your students about this wonderful opportunity to potentially serve our country and get an amazing college education in the process.

TIGERS SET TO MEET PLYMOUTH FRIDAY - 7pm KICKOFF

Tiger fans are reminded that kickoff for all football games this season is 7pm! With nice weather in the forcast, we are anticipating another outstanding crowd Friday night from both the Tiger fans as well as the fans from Plymouth.

WCHS Athletics would like to remind all fans, you are welcome to tailgate prior to the games, however we ask that you reserve this activity to some specific areas, and we ask that you do not set up your tailgate in parking spaces. Please use the areas in the grass along logan street (between the lot and the sidewalk), or the median that includes both grass and a sidewalk just north of the large bus circle by the PAC. A sign will be posted in this area! We also ask that you pick up your trash and use the recepticles available in these areas.

Fans are also reminded that we do not want youngsters throwing balls and playing around the bleacher areas. Elementary, middle, and high school students should be in the sections reserved for them or sitting with parents! If balls are brought to play catch in the tailgating areas, that is not prohibited, but we do not want balls brought into and thrown inside the Tiger Athletic Complex.

IPFW Waives $50 College Application Fee

IPFW will be waiving the $50 college application fee during College Go Week Monday, September 21st - Friday, September 25th.

This has been a popular week for IPFW applications over the past few years. We encourage students to apply earlier in the week since applications are processed in the order in which they are received.

Collegiate Connection students at Warsaw will also be offered the application fee waiver for their IPFW dual credit participation any time. Dual credit seniors are encouraged to apply before College Go Week and they’ll process those applications first. The online application will be available on September 1, 2015.
