Dawn of Spies by Andrew Lane

In the late 1600's, seventeen-year-old Robinson Crusoe and Friday, his female friend, have just been rescued from a deserted, Caribbean island. They are recruited by writer Daniel Defoe to work as agents for Segment W.  This spy group is investigating the mysterious Circle of Thirteen. Who are they plotting to kidnap?
