Fawkes by Nadine Brandes

Thomas Fawkes is slowly turning to stone thanks to the Stone Plague. The Keepers, including Thomas's father, think the Igniters caused the plague. The Igniters, including the King of England, think the Keepers are to blame. All Thomas knows is that if he doesn't do something soon, he'll be a lifeless statue. When his father, Guy Fawkes, invites Thomas to join in the Gunpowder Plot, claiming that it will cure the plague, Thomas joins. But doing so will destroy the family of the girl that Thomas loves and backing out will send his father and the other conspirators to the gallows. Once his choice is made, there's no backing out.
