Troy Akers

I am married to my lovely wife of twenty-seven years, Tracey. Tracey is a school nurse at Edgewood Middle School. We are the parents of two wonderful children. Our oldest, Tyler, is an assistant football coach and graduate student at Anderson University in Anderson, IN. Our youngest, Tara, is a senior also attending Anderson University.

In the fall of 2005 we became the legal guardians of Yachaaroah Lightbourne Stuart from the Bahamas. " Cha" is a graduate of UTEP in El Paso, TX where he was a member of the UTEP Miner NCAA DI football team.

We are involved in many activities. We are involved with and enjoy our church family at WCC. We also love the Performing Arts, professional and collegiate athletics, and nearly all outdoor activities.

Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine:

Indiana Code 4-22-2 requires all 12 grade students to have 2 doses of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine by the start of school year 2014-2015. Unfortunately, many of our current seniors have either not had the shots or have not turned in paperwork indicating that the vaccines have been administered.

Please provide proof of the immunization to WCHS School Nurse, Mrs. Jeanne DeGeeter. Records may be faxed to 571-371-5008, emailed to or brought in by your student. WCHS students who are non-compliant may be excluded from school. Thank you for following this request and helping us keep your student healthy! Likewise, if you have already turned these health records in, we are extremely grateful!

We have had tremendous success with the Feed My Starving Children Campaign! Tomorrow, we will have our final event for fund raising and then shift our cause towards the food packing process that will take place at Madison Elementary in early October.

Tomorrow's event is called; ONE DAY...ONE PERIOD...ONE DOLLAR! We have made a request for EVERYONE inside the walls of our building to dig deep and come up with $1 dollar to donate to FMSC during 1st Period. This will be our final collection. If we would meet this goal tomorrow, we could raise nearly $2,300.00 in this event alone. This collections along with others that have gone on at WCHS could push us over $5K in donations. The equates to 22,727,000 meals! We can do it!

During the past 6 years, at our Back to School Training, Food Service Director, Marci Franks, has given an award called the Silver Spoon Award. It is awarded to the school that has done an outstanding job in service to the staff and students by displaying good teamwork. This year the WCHS kitchen was given that award. The Silver Spoon is proudly displayed and hangs in the serving area over the drink area.

Led by Cafeteria Manager, Brenda Martinez, our outstanding group of ladies try to do their best by displaying teamwork and always putting the students first! Congratulations ladies!

Good news!  Because of multiple requests, the WCS Registration window has been extended.  Families will now have until June 20th to pre-register students for the 2014-15 school year.  You will need to create a new PowerSchool log-in account.  After you have created the new log-in, please go to Pre-Registration.  Please read and update any information. Those not Pre-Registered will face longer lines next August.  Thank you!

This message is for Juniors and Seniors. We have had an exciting opportunity presented to us by the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce and the fine folks from WorkOne. They will be teaming with WCHS and WACC to host the first annual Jr./Sr. Career Expo.

The Career Expo will have over 35 companies and numerous colleges and universities present from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM in the Tiger Den. You will the opportunity to visit during the lunch hour and possibly with your 6th and 7th period classes. The Expo will also be open until 4:00 PM to provide you with an opportunity to visit after school if needed.

Many companies will be looking for workers who can begin jobs with competitive wages as soon as this summer. While others will be here to simply promote what their company does and the type of skills and training needed to be considered for the workplace.

The colleges range from Ivy Tech to Notre Dame. Admissions counselors will be on hand to assist you with any questions you may have.

I thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the Career Expo next Friday May 9th.
