Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
Violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she has known and loved in one devastating night when she comes into possession of an object that opens passages between space and time. Nicholas Carter, a sailor fleeing the powerful Ironwood family in the colonies, becomes Etta's protector. Together they journey across centuries and continents, following the clues of a mysterious traveler who knows that Etta's time traveling object must not fall into the Ironwoods' hands.
